Depicting The Invisible: A Portrait Series of Veterans Suffering From PTSD by artist Susan J. Barron opened to the public on April 3, 2021 and will be on exhibition at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, Ohio until March 15, 2022. The award-winning documentary of the same name will also be on exhibition.
Barron was inspired to create the portrait series after hearing that 22 Veterans commit suicide every day in our country. "My intention is to bring awareness to the issues of PTSD and to depict our Veterans as the incredible heroes they are," said Barron. "...My mission is to provide a platform for Veterans to share their stores, and to create a vehicle for help and change."

“The Army and Navy Club is proud to host ‘Depicting the Invisible'. Susan’s work captures the PTSD epidemic through a deeply intimate lens, instilling her veteran subjects with dignity while building empathy in all who see her work. This important exhibition brings much-needed awareness to the triumphs and challenges facing our combat veterans today; it is my hope that all who see this show will be inspired to make a difference in the veteran community.”
